Danny Baker’s Saturday evening football phone-in programme, 5.30 – 7.30pm on Talk Radio, is to be sponsored by the News of the World newspaper. The deal, worth £250,000, runs throughout the 1997/97 football season and follows the news that Talk Radio has secured the football commentary rights for the Nationwide League previously held by Radio 5 Live.
Tim Bleakley, Talk Radio’s sales director, said: “The type of issues and stories that the News of the World carries about the sporting arena are exactly the type of controversial issues that Danny Baker raises on his show, and this is a perfect fit for our audience.”
