The UK’s national newspaper websites saw usage figures increase in February, with almost all audited sites recording a rise, with the exception of Mirror Group Digital and MailOnline.
Mirror Group Digital recorded a -25% decline – down by more than 220,810 daily average unique browsers, despite re-launching in February. The drop has been attributed to the “rewiring” of millions of URLs, which impacted the site’s traffic through Google search.
MailOnline also posted a small -0.7% dip (almost 39,000 browsers).
The Guardian enjoyed a 12.7% rise in browsers – the biggest percentage increase in the month (up more than 455,000). The Telegraph, The Sun and The Independent‘s web offerings also enjoyed increases in February.
The MailOnline remains the UK’s busiest site with 5,745,989 unique browsers each day (on average).
