Football Monthly Comes Home
It’s back, after being off the newsstands for seven months the original football magazine has been relaunched just in time for the new football season. Rather surprisingly Football Monthly is quite an interesting read, with articles on Teddy Sheringham’s shock transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to champions Manchester United; Howard Kendall’s return to Everton and a look at how newly promoted Barnsley will fare in coming season among the Premiership big boys.
The magazine itself could do with a better appearance, with the pages look slightly dated as though they have come from a football fanzine. The articles that are featured in the magazine are well researched and very interesting. Though Football Monthly is 46 years old it still has enough to offer today’s market place with its articles and features appealing to a higher level of intelligence than some of the other magazines on the market. It will be interesting to see how well the new look Football Monthly competes in this era of Loaded type football magazines
Priced at £2.50 the magazine has 68 full colour pages and an ad:ed ratio of 20:80. Major advertisers are Reebok, Pentax and Gillette.
