Internet Increases Its Popularity Among The Young
CIA MediaLab has published details of its latest Sensor survey which was carried out by BMRB. It states that only 21% of the British public have an understanding of the Internet, which is up from 8% in 1995.
Among 15-24 year olds it is reported that 35% are familiar with the Internet, a figure that has risen from 12% in 1995. These figures are in contrast with over 55s who were surveyed and said that they didn’t understand the Internet or how they can access it.
The survey also found that 15% of people believe that the Internet is a great way to communicate, 14% say that it is informative and 7% think that it is educational. Of the ABs that were surveyed 27% said that the Internet is a great way to communicate.
Bill Faust, Head of CIA Interactive, said: “Faster access technology and lower entry costs are improving the Net’s popularity, but we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that certain groups are responding better than others.”
