The ITC is inviting applications for a local delivery franchise for North Wales and South Cheshire and Dumfries and Galloway. Local delivery franchises will enable a range of multichannel television and telecommunications services via cable or microwave distribution. The Wales and Cheshire area includes Flintshire, Wrexham, Denbigshire, Conwy, Anglesey, Bangor and Caernarfon. This area contains approximately 351,000 homes. The Scottish area covers the jurisdiction of Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The ITC has set percentage qualifying revenue as a minimum price to be paid for the franchises. For Wales and Cheshire this stands at 0 per cent for the first 10 years and 2 per cent for the remaining 5 years of the 15-year franchise. For Dumfries and Galloway it is 0 per cent for the first 2 years, 1 per cent for years 3 to 9 and 4 per cent for the remaining 6 years of the 15-year franchise.
Applicants must specify the annual cash bid by which they will supplement the percentages of qualifying revenue. Applications must be submitted to the ITC by noon on 12 January 1998.
