25.9m broadband lines expected in the UK by 2016

Point Topic forecasts that there will be 25.9 million broadband lines in the UK by 2016.

In its latest UK Broadband Market Forecasts report, Point Topic has raised its expectations, with the broadband line total for end-2012 now standing 163,000 higher, and the end of 2016 figure 360,000 higher, than previously forecast.

On the superfast front, Point Topic forecasts that there will be 10.8 million FTTx lines in the UK by the end of 2016, which is nearly 28 times the total FTTx lines recorded for Q4 2011.

The report says the future for broadband growth has “become much more uncertain and exciting with the ramping up of superfast broadband services”.
