Katz To Recruit New Staff For Xfm Push
Katz Radio Sales, named as the sales house for new London station Xfm, has said that it will be recruiting four new staff to handle its new client.
Simon Lynds, president and chief executive of Katz, told Newsline that he wanted sales people who would embody the spirit of the indie-music station who had preferably been listeners when the station ran temporary licences. So far one new member of staff has been recruited.
Lynds went on to say that, by the very nature of the Xfm brand, the sales operation would need to be involved in different products and different positionings to those which the London market had been used to. He said “we will undoubtedly be creating a sales policy for 16-34 year olds: it would be an absolute rarity to take products outside of this.” While research had suggested that there would be a strong ABC1 market, Lynds believed that Xfm would have a broader appeal because the music “transcended” socio-economic groupings.
