The EC last week finally adopted a Green Paper on the Principles of EU Food Law. The Green Paper reviews current legislation affecting the agri-food sector and invites comments on how legislation and procedures can be improved in the interests of public health and consumer protection. Advertising is not a major pre-occupation of the Paper, except in respect of claims in food labelling. The Paper is open for consultation until 31 July 1997.
