Cable & Wireless has announced record financial results for the year ended 31 March 1997. Turnover was up 13% on the previous year to reach £7 billion, while pre-tax profits hit £1.4bn, up 12%.
The company is also looking forward to success with Cable & Wireless Communications, its 52% owned venture with Nynex Cablecomms, Mercury Communications, Videotron and Bell Cablemedia (subscribers see Cable Companies Merge).
