The Telegraph Group recorded a 9% increase in pre-tax profits yesterday, rising to £44.3m with turnover also increasing from £219m to £237m. Operating profit went up by 14% to £37.5m and earnings per share decreased to 23.8p from 30.1p. The rise in profits is being partly accredited to a substantial increase in the cover price.

Glasgow agency, Craig Advertising has gone into receivership with 27 redundancies. Craig handled accounts such as Tay Homes and Textile World and is thought to have debts of £500,000 owing to Scottish regional newspapers, including the Glasgow Herald.
