Freesat appoints Jennifer Elworthy as marketing director

TV service Freesat has appointed Jennifer Elworthy as director of marketing and communications following the departure of Paul Gilshan.

Elworthy joined Freesat in 2013 as head of marketing and communications after a stint at The Times and BBC and is a non-executive director of digital start up, Digimeal.

“I’m thrilled to promote Jennifer to her new role,” said Freesat managing director Alistair Thom.

“Over the past three years she has shown herself to be a true advocate of the brand and a natural strategic thinker. With a significant shift in the way we position our offering having taken place, most notably through Freetime, Jennifer will continue to shape and drive our connected offering.”

Jennifer added: “I’m really excited to take on this new role at Freesat. It’s an important time in our company’s growth as we shift focus and put Freetime at the front and centre of marketing, and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge.”

Freesat is a subscription free satellite TV service offering 200 channels. Last year it added 25,000 new homes to reach 1.9 million in the UK.
