Ofcom has appointed MT (Mary Teresa) Rainey as the new deputy chairman of Channel 4, following Mark Price’s departure at the beginning of April.
Rainey is already a non-executive of the C4 board, having joined in January 2012, and will take on the new role with immediate effect until December 2017.
Previously a founding partner of ad agency Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe, now part of WPP, Rainey is also an advisor to, and former chairman of, digital agency Think Ltd; vice chair of Creative Skillset; and founder of online mentoring network Horsemouth.co.uk.
She has also previously chaired the Marketing Group of Great Britain.
Commenting on the appointment, Dame Patricia Hodgson, chairman of Ofcom, said: “I am delighted that we have appointed MT Rainey as deputy chairman of Channel 4.
“She is a high calibre appointment who already has significant understanding and experience of Channel 4.”
Charles Gurassa, who was made chairman of Channel 4 in January, added: “[Rainey] brings a wealth of highly relevant experience from her working life and from her many years on our board.
“I very much look forward to working with her in her new role.”
