In brief

Apple has increased its prices for Apple Music and Apple TV+ for the first time.

Apple Music will now cost $10.99/month for individuals, a $1 increase. It will make the service more expensive than competitors Spotify ($9.99/month) and Amazon ($9.99/month for non-Prime members, and $8.99/month for Prime members).

Apple TV+ will cost $6.99/month, up from $4.99/month, which is still below other streaming companies’ prices even as Netflix and Disney+ begin to institute ad tiers in Q4.

The company has cited increased licencing costs as reason for the rise. Apple is expected to report Q3 financials later this week.
