NME To Offer Readers Xfm Branded Covermount

IPC Media’s veteran music weekly NME has teamed up with Capital Radio’s Xfm to offer readers an exclusive free CD with its 2 October issue.

The CD covermount will feature live Xfm sessions from artists that have been championed by NME throughout the year from the likes of Keane and Razorlight to The Killers. Xfm will support the initiative with on-air editorial promotions and a week-long burst of 30-second radio ads.

Commenting on the marketing partnership, NME editor, Conor McNicholas, said “NME and Capital Radio’s Xfm have loads in common so it makes sense that we should work together. We talk to the same music fans and share a passion for music that matters.”

Xfm, head of marketing Charlotte Soussan, added: “Xfm is committed to live music and we broadcast exclusive live sessions six days a week, as well as making them available on the Xfm website. This CD features some of the most exciting bands Xfm and NME have been supporting in the past year and offers fans exclusive versions of some of their favourite tracks.”

The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2004 show that NME saw its circulation drop by 3.4% year on year to just over the 70,000 mark. However, the long-running music newspaper remains popular with its target audience of men aged between 15 and 24, trailing only slightly behind its higher profile monthly competitors.
