Telenet adds YouTube Premium to its set-top box and bills

Belgian Pay TV operator Telenet has added YouTube Premium – the ad-free YouTube offer – to its set-top box offering, with the cost added to the Telenet bill.

The subscription lets users download YouTube videos and playlists for offline playback and play content in the background while using other apps.

YouTube Music is also included, providing access to an extensive, ad-free music catalogue. The cost is €13.99 per month.

This is part of Telenet’s wider strategy to be the central point of contact for app viewing and subscription management.

Vincent Stevens, VP premium entertainment at the company, said: “Entertainment should be effortless, and with this Belgian first, we’re setting a new standard for customer experience.

“YouTube is one of the most used apps on our platform, and this is a significant milestone. Our role is to make our customers’ lives easier. We want everything centralised for the ultimate viewing experience.”
