Telegraph Bolsters Sports Coverage In Olympic Run-Up

The Daily Telegraph will begin its run up to the Olympic Games next week with the publication of an eight-page preview guide to the event, underlining its commitment to quality sports coverage.

In addition to the Olympics coverage, the Telegraph will publish a supplement previewing the Premiership on 14 August featuring articles by Alan Hansen and Henry Winter. The title will also feature fixtures, and club-by-club predictions as well as an in-depth look at contenders Manchester United and Chelsea.

Commenting on the Telegraph‘s latest sporting supplements Mark Dixon, marketing director at Telegraph Group Limited, said: “These supplements provide an excellent guide to the Premiership and the Olympics and reinforce The Daily Telegraph‘s commitment to superior sports coverage.”

The Olympics supplement will be published on Thursday, August 12 and features exclusive columns from Paula Radcliffe, James Cracknell, Pippa Funnell, Ben Ainslie and Nichole Cooke. The special guide will also feature analysis of the main Olympic sports and a collection of views from around the world predicting who will be the star of Athens 2004.

Promotion for the paper’s Olympics coverage will run throughout London and the South using outdoor advertising from now until 14 August.

The Telegraph‘s increased sports coverage follows the launch of its fantasy football contest last month. The newspaper has announced a raft of marketing activities to support the launch, marking its twelfth year of running Fantasy Football and going head to head with the Times‘ own TheFantasyGame promotion (see Times Takes On Telegraph With Fantasy Football).
