Future Launches One-Off Title For Quiz Fans

Future Publishing is launching a special one-off quiz magazine next week, called IQuiz, with a covermounted interactive CD-rom.

The 100-page title will be aimed at the intellectual 35 to 65 year-old reader and will feature a mix of cryptic crosswords, general knowledge crosswords and trivia questions on the subject areas including music, history and general knowledge.

The magazine will be coverpriced at £2.75 and will also include a dedicated answers section providing solutions, as well as educational background information on the respective subject area.

IQuiz will be covermounted with an interactive CD-rom offering readers the chance not only to complete the crosswords and quizzes featured in the magazine on their computers, but also to compete against other readers via an online ranking system.

Commenting on the launch, John Weir, publishing director at Future Publishing, said: “I-Quiz is an exciting and innovative proposition, providing readers with an intellectual challenge. We’re targeting the magazine at the type of readers who want some intellectual stimulation, play online with others or simply want a bit of relaxation at the end of the day.”

Last month Future’s new managing director, Robert Price, told NewsLine that his business strategy for the next twelve months would see several new launches both within existing markets and in new sectors. He said: “We are looking very heavily at launch activity this year and into the next. Initially that will be to build share in our existing sectors, but we are also looking at launches and acquisitions in a number of new markets” (see NewsLine Interview: Robert Price – Future Publishing).
