Chrysalis Revamps LBC Line Up To Compete With BBC

LBC Logo Chrysalis has revamped the daytime line-up of its talk-based radio station, LBC 97.3FM, in an effort to outdo regional competition from the BBC and extend its listenership.

The move, unveiled by the station’s new managing director, David Lloyd, kicks in this month to see comedian Iain Lee move from his current late night weekend slot to host the weekday drivetime show, while fellow comedienne Jenny Éclair joins LBC’s weekend team.

As part of the reshuffle, Sony Award winning Anna Raeburn will present the station’s Monday to Friday lunchtime slot in January, taking to the air from 1-3pm.

Commenting on the new line-up, Lloyd explained that the reshuffle was a major step forward for the station. He said: “These are the first steps I have made to freshen the FM service. We are moving into a territory where I feel we really can win against the BBC and establish a new and younger audience for speech in London, spearheaded by contemporary personalities and giving them the room to breathe, as this format can.”

LBC 97.3 currently commands a weekly reach of 699,000 up 17.3% year on year, with a number of high profile promotions increasing the station’s profile in the Capital (see LBC Gears Up For Breakfast Battle With Ferrari Promotion).
