Real Life Drama Fails To Lift BBC Soap

Eastenders' Mitchell Brothers Yesterday’s bizarre real life incidents involving Eastenders actors Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden failed to provide increased viewers for BBC1’s top soap.

Last night’s edition attracted an average audience of 9.3 million adults, down from 10 million the previous Thursday, despite a flurry of media attention throughout the day after both actors were caught up in alleged assaults (see Sun Editor Wade Released After ‘Assault’ Arrest).

Over on ITV1, Emmerdale posted a healthy adult viewership of 8.1 million, up from 6.8 million last Thursday which faced stiff competition from the BBC’s one off Casualty @ Holby City.

Elsewhere, Gordan Ramsey’s new Channel 4 show The F Word delivered decent figures for the station last night. The hour long programme averaged 2.24 million adult viewers, with a viewing share of 10.66%
