GCap Hires Wyatt As Marketing Controller For South Coast Stations

GCap Media has announced that it has hired Neil Wyatt as the new marketing controller for its south coast stations, Power FM, Ocean and Capital Gold Hampshire.

Wyatt will be responsible for overseeing all of the above-mentioned stations, as well as dealing with below the line marketing at the Fareham-based stations, replacing Sophie Fenning who was recently promoted to regional marketing director.

Commenting on Wyatt’s appointment, Fenning said: “We’re really pleased Neil could join us at such an exciting time for the GCap Media stations in Hampshire. Recent RAJAR figures show our three stations have twice the audience of our nearest commercial competitor so we’ll be looking to consolidate that growth with even more effective and creative marketing of our three brands.”

Wyatt joined the company from Metropolis Music, one of the country’s leading concert promoters, where he has worked for the past nine years holding the position of marketing manager.

Wyatt added: “I’m hugely excited at the prospect of working on three of GCap Media’s top brands, and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we develop our brands’ unique relationship with their local communities and listeners”.

Earlier this month, GCap Media promoted Kirk Vallis to become its new head of network sales, replacing Ed Chalmers who was promoted to become head of agency (see GCap Promotes Vallis As Network Sales Head).

Vallis’ move comes after GCap saw a number of its high-profile management figures leave the company in the run up to the Capital GWR merger. Among those who resigned were commercial managing director Linda Grant, who had been due to head up the new firm’s single sales house (see Capital And GWR Name Team For Single Sales House), and Mike Hope Milne, Capital Radio’s former commercial content director.
