Local Radio Company Boosts Portfolio In Liverpool

The Local Radio Company has announced the acquisition of East Liverpudlian station KCR FM for a cash sum of £507,250.

KCR FM has potential audience coverage of 231,100 adults, with the first ever RAJAR results for the station due to be released on 27 January. By the end of May last year KCR FM totalled sales of £200,000 and net liabilities of £31,000.

Richard Wheatly, chief executive of TLRC said: “We view KCR as a business with significant potential. It fits neatly into our expanding group of stations in the North West and its imminent first RAJAR results provide us with a new opportunity to expand sales.”

November last year saw TLRC purchase the remaining shares in South West Sussex Radio Limited, trading as Spirit FM. The deal saw TLRC taking complete control of Spirit and increasing its broadcast area to include Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton on 96.6FM and 102.3FM (see Local Radio Company Acquires 25th Station).

In addition, the station recently installed a new relay, extending its broadcast area from Midhurst to Horsham broadcasting on 106.6FM.
