Corrie And Comedy Help ITV Beat BBC

Comedy Awards Logo A barrage of prime time entertainment shows from ITV floored the BBC last night, as Emmerdale, Coronation Street, The Bill and The 2005 British Comedy Awards colluded to outgun the Corporation in every time slot.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street got ITV’s evening off to a spectacular start, scoring average audiences of 7.9 million and 9 million respectively to trounce BBC One’s documentary, Honey We’re Killing The Kids.

The Bill followed ITV’s soap hour, drawing 5.7 million adult viewers against 3.9 million for the BBC’s What Not To Wear. The evening rounded off with success for ITV’s British Comedy Awards, drawing 5 million viewers against 3.9 million for Life In The Undergrowth on BBC One.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Lost provided a lift to the broadcaster’s ratings towards the end of the evening, as 2.2 million adults tuned in, while Five’s film Out For Justice provided the highlight of its schedule, drawing ratings of 1.3 million.
