IPC Signs Uncut Screening Deal With TCM

Cinema Classic movie channel, TCM, has signed a six month sponsorship deal with IPC’s film and music title, Uncut, marking a first for the broadcaster in working with the magazine to screen uncut films for the first time.

The sponsorship deal, which will see The Uncut Film inserted into TCM’s schedule, underlines Uncut‘s commitment to quality film and includes endorsement and recommendations from the publication.

Starting in May, the promotion will run on the first Wednesday of every month except July and August. Each film will air at 9pm with a short introduction from Uncut‘s publisher, Andrew Sumner. The films, all modern classics, have been selected by both parties and will be aired in their original uncut form.

The films featuring as part of the season are: All The President’s Men, Rio Bravo, Cool Hand Luke, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Blood Simple, and Scarface.

The sponsorship deal is supported with a tune-in trailer for each monthly film to air on TCM, as well as branded editorial pages in seven issues of Uncut magazine.

Alan Musa, VP and channel manager at TCM explained the significance of the deal, stating: “We are delighted to be signing this groundbreaking deal with Uncut magazine. TCM’s prime time movie slot has been attracting a wider audience as we’ve introduced more modern and up-to-date classic films into the schedule. The deal helps us to consolidate Uncut‘s young male audience and grow it even further. We hope this is just the beginning of more cross-promotional opportunities with Uncut and IPC Media.”

Andrew Sumner, publisher of Uncut added: “Uncut is the world’s biggest movie and music magazine and this partnership with TCM demonstrates our absolute commitment to quality film. Not only have we selected six of the greatest modern classics for the season but also film fans can enjoy them as they were meant to be seen – uncut.”

The deal with Uncut marks a continuation of TCM’s effort to diversify its audience. Earlier this year the company signed a partnership with Times Newspapers to cross-promote its month long “28 Days of Oscar” hosted by Stephen Fry (see Sunday Times Signs Promotion Parnership With TCM).
