Dennis Drops PC Projects After Just Seven Months

Dennis Publishing has ceased publication of fledgling computing title PC Projects just seven months after its launch, intended to capitalise on the growing number of homes equipped with a computer.

At the time of PC Projects’ launch, the title’s publisher Peter Wootton, said: “People want to get more from their home PCs, as the recent and significant growth in the PC ‘How To’ magazine market shows. PC Projects offers a fantastic package that is very well positioned to take advantage of this booming magazine market sector.”

However, the title, aimed at older computer users aged between 35 and 55, has now been axed, with Future declining to comment on the reasons for their decision.

Reports this morning suggest that the title’s cover price of £4.99, and the covermounted DVD may have led to a poor take-up amongst readers, many of whom, it is believed, still use CD-Rom equipped PCs. The title’s initial print run was of 50,000 copies. However, it is unclear how many of these copies were sold due to the titles short lifespan and a lack of audited circulation figures.
