Yahoo! Extends Ad Deal With Guardian Unlimited

Guardian Unlimited Yahoo! UK and Ireland has extended its relationship with Guardian Unlimited, with the two companies continuing a multi-year search and advertising deal.

The deal, which began in 2002, will see the internet search engine extend the advertising revenue services it provides the Guardian’s network of websites, with a product called Hotspots that operates in a similar way to keyword links.

Visitors to guardian.co.uk will also be able to search the internet through an option powered by Yahoo! available on every page of the GU network of sites.

“Yahoo!’s talent for creating innovative revenue-generating solutions for Guardian Unlimited was a major reason we extended our partnership,” said Tristan Leaver, the business development manager at GU.

“We highly value the partnership and look forward to its next phase, where together we will be further enhancing our users’ experience through increased features and functionality.”

Yahoo! has deals with other online news websites including the Financial Times, Belfast Telegraph, Independent, Associated Newspapers and, in the US, the Wall Street Journal.

Guardian Unlimited, the digital arm of Guardian News and Media, is one of Yahoo! UK and Ireland’s longest-standing partners.
