BT Vision Signs VOD Movie Deal

BT House BT has a new video-on-demand film deal with Lionsgate Entertainment for its next-generation TV service, BT Vision, which launches in autumn 2006.

This new deal will provide BT Vision customers with access to the Lionsgate library, one of the biggest independent film libraries in the world.

Titles include Jeepers Creepers, Open Water, Reservoir Dogs, The Gift, Dirty Dancing, Dune and the Oscar-winning documentary One Day in September.

Dan Marks, chief executive officer of BT Vision, said: “This is another great deal which ensures that BT Vision customers will be able to access yet more classic films. This agreement with Lionsgate shows that our commitment to bring the best and most varied entertainment is continuing unabated.”

Guy Avshalom, head of legal and business affairs Europe at Lionsgate, said: “BT has a very smart approach to VOD and we are delighted to be in business with it.”

BT Vision has already announced content deals with a range of entertainment companies including Dreamworks, i-concerts, Eagle Rock, BBC Worldwide, Paramount, Warner Music Group, National Geographic Channel, HIT Entertainment, Momentum, Universal, Nelvana, SONY BMG and Turner Broadcasting; as well as with independents including Entertainment Rights plc, NBD Television and Wall to Wall Television.

BT Vision has also announced ‘near-live’ FA Premier League matches from the 2007/08 season.
