ITV Chairman Could Leave

ITV Logo Peter Burt, chairman of ITV, could soon follow Charles Allen in leaving the broadcaster, according to reports in Broadcast.

Apparently Burt has been unhappy in his role for some time and will step down once a permanent successor to Allen has been appointed and has settled into the role.

Broadcast says that Burt initially supported the Greg Dyke-led Goldman Sachs/Apax bid for ITV earlier in the year (see ITV Confirms But Rejects Takeover Approach) but changed his mind and voted against it along with the rest of the board members.

The report quotes an unnamed source as saying: “Burt has wanted out for a while but knows he can’t go at the same time as the chief executive. He has not enjoyed much of his experience at ITV and wants to leave.”
