Viacom Sees National Rail Revenues Soar

Viacom Outdoor Logo Outdoor media giant Viacom Outdoor has unveiled a massive 72% increase in its National Rail revenues for the first quarter of the year.

The year-on-year increase was caused as a direct result of increased investment in National Rail sites, the poster firm said, reporting that the increase is substantially ahead of growth in the outdoor sector as a whole.

Viacom Outdoor’s portfolio currently accounts for a third of Britain’s National Rail market, with franchises from Arriva Trains Wales, Chiltern Railways, Merseyrail, Transpennine Express, Central Trains, Scotrail and GNER all falling under its remit.

Welcoming the impressive figures, Tim Bleakley, joint managing director of the company, said: “The quality of Viacom Outdoor’s investment in product, marketing and sales, is showing through across our national rail business. Advertisers are increasingly looking to capture and captivate consumers on the move and the transit environment is uniquely placed to deliver this.”

February saw Viacom Outdoor’s Ireland successfully retained the contract for the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company, giving the firm control over around ninety 48 sheets, forty 6 sheets and 10 landmark bridge locations despite “stiff competition” from rivals (see Viacom Retains Wide-Ranging Irish Transport Rights), while January saw the poster giant scoop a selection of rail contracts from FirstGroup plc (see Viacom Scoops Rail Contract From Maiden).
