5.1m Adults See Big Brother “Nobody” Scoop Prize

Chantelle An average of 5.1 million adults tuned in to see the Big Brother final on Friday, as “nobody” contestant Chantelle scooped the prize with 56.4% of the public vote.

Pushing Michael Barrymore into second place, Chantelle’s performance sees her become a celebrity by default, having already signed a “six figure” deal for an exclusive interview in yesterday’s Sunday Star.

Friday’s final proved hugely popular with reality TV fans, as average audiences topped last year’s event by more than half a million (see Celeb Big Brother Bows Out With A Bang).

Despite peaking with an audience of 6.2 million in the final 15 minutes, the show’s average audiences failed to top those of BBC One’ competing Judge John Deed, which drew 5.8 million adults.

Excluding its soap opera reliables, ITV1 saw the largest audience of the evening with A Touch of Frost, drawing 3.7 million adults on average.
