ITV Ratings Peak As Chelsea Drops From Champions’ League

Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho Last night’s Champions’ League match between Chelsea and Barcelona dominated primetime viewing, giving ITV1 a 29.1% share of all adults to floor competition from all terrestrial rivals.

The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, gave Barcelona a 3-2 win on aggregate and saw Chelsea knocked out of the Champions’ League.

An average adult audience of 6.6 million tuned in to ITV for the game, topping BBC One’s closest competitor for the duration of the match – hospital drama Holby City, which drew 6 million on average.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s new series of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares saw average adult viewers numbering 3.3 million, while Five saw continued success with the CSI drama franchise, drawing over 2 million for both episodes of a double bill.

The return of Jimmy’s Farm to BBC Two also proved popular, despite competition from ITV’s Champion’s League coverage. The programme, centering on the running of an organic farm, drew 2.5 million adults on average, securing a 10.76% share.
