Kerrang! Re-Records Classic Rock Album For Unique Covermount

Kerrang! Cover Emap’s Kerrang! magazine is to create a unique musical proposition next month, with a one off re-recording of Metallica’s iconic rock album, Master Of Puppets, gracing the cover of its magazine.

The special re-recording by eight of the hottest new rock bands is intended as a celebration of album’s twentieth anniversary, with magazine editor Paul Brannigan describing the exercise as the ultimate salute to Metallica’s “finest hour.”

“Master Of Puppets is a flawless, inspirational and hugely influential album… the most exciting covermount CD in the magazine’s history. Put simply, every Kerrang! reader needs to hear this album.”

In addition to the re-recording, the covermount features sleeve notes written by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

“It’s awesome to think that some of you guys weren’t even born when we recorded Master Of Puppets!” Ulrich laughed. “When we started thinking about Kerrang! honouring Master Of Puppets with this tribute album, and saw the artwork and the line-up of bands we realised it was a big deal.

“We’re honoured that it’s a record that’s perceived as a milestone and a record that’s been so inspiring to so many people, both fans and young bands like Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine.”

The re-recorded CD features performances by bands including Machine Head, Trivium, Mendeed, Bullet For My Valentine, Chimaira, Fightstar, Mastodon and Funeral For A Friend.

The CD is only available with the latest Kerrang! magazine, which hits newsstands on 5 April.
