Strong Performance Sees E4 Re-Commission Music Strand

E4 Logo Channel 4 has re-commissioned its E4 Music Zone strand following a strong performance which the broadcaster claims is “on par” with rivals such as MTV and TMF.

The re-commissioning will see E4 continue its eight hour daily block of music programming, featuring an eclectic mix of big name artists, brand new music and classic videos, hosted by a small team of presenters and guests.

Channel 4 claims the music content has been hugely successful, with viewing figures peaking at “over 100,000,” equal to that of rival music channels.

The musical offering has also enabled Channel 4 to build its presence and promote its brand at outdoor music events, such as the V Festival, Bestival, T4 on The Beach and the NME Awards.

Executive producer, Toby Dormer, said: “E4 Music has come a long way in a very short time and we are delighted that we now have the opportunity to develop it yet further. The simple format of music videos and young, funny and knowledgeable presenters is exactly what E4 viewers and music fans want.”

E4 Music content co-ordinator, Steven Edwards, added: “We are delighted to announce the re-comission of E4 Music. The zone has exceeded our expectations and has been fully embraced by both our viewers and the music industry alike.”

The E4 Music Zone will continue to be produced by Remedy Productions, following their appointment to develop the programme strand last year (see Channel 4 Tests Interactivity Through Music Offering).
