Who Do You Think You Are? Continues To Bring In The Viewers

Alastair McGowan The big ratings winner last night was Who Do You Think You Are?, which followed Alastair McGowan as he traced his roots right back to the 18th century.

With a name like McGowan it was no surprise to find that the TV funny man thought he had a fair bit of Scottish blood in him, but as with so many things in life, the truth turned out to be a lot more complicated.

In fact, much to McGowan’s bemusement, the trail of birth certificates and census records led him not to some Highland outpost, but to India, where he met several distant relatives.

The family history show, on BBC One at 9pm, had a peak audience of 6.3 million adult viewers (a 32.2% share of the audience).

An average of 5.7 million adults stuck with the show throughout its hour long duration

Over on ITV1 at 9pm was The Whistleblowers, the drama series about little people trying to make a big difference.

The fast-paced show had a peak audience of 2.9 million adults (a 14.8% share), whilst an average of 2.7 million adults stayed with the show for its hour long running time.

Five did reasonably well with its coverage of the EUFA Cup football match between Metalist Kharkiv and Everton.

A pulsating match was won 3-2 by Everton, with the English team just doing enough to progress through to the next round of Europe’s second most important knock-out competition.
