IPC Appoints Moynihan As Digital Editor

David Moynihan IPC Ignite has appointed David Moynihan, editor of Emap’s FHM.com to the role of digital editor for IPC Ignite music brands NME.com and Uncut.co.uk.

Moynihan joined FHM.com in 2000 and became deputy editor of the site in 2004. He was named editor in January 2007 and during his time on the brand, the site has picked up a clutch of high profile awards including PPA Online Consumer Magazine of the Year.

In his new role he will be charged with leading the editorial development of the award-winning international 24/7 music website, NME.com, as well as sister site Uncut.co.uk.

Publishing director Paul Cheal said: “I’m delighted David is joining us. His experience at FHM coupled with his passion for both music and the NME makes him the perfect choice for this role. And he couldn’t be joining us at a better time. As we revealed last month through ABCe, NME.com is bigger than ever, and still growing, with record unique users and page impressions through this year’s festival season.

David adds: “Ignite’s music brands are internationally famous – and rightly so. To have the chance to work with their award-winning teams to drive online development to the next level is pretty much a dream come true.”

At the last ABCs, for January to June 2007, the print version of NME saw its circulation fall by more than 6,000 copies year on year to leave it with a final figure of 68,151 (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2007: Q Magazine Tops Music Sector Despite 18% Year On Year Circulation Drop).

The magazine underwent a redesign in July in a bid to entice readers to the title and give it a “radical modern look and feel to switch on NME’s design-savvy audience” (see NME Undergoes Redesign To Boost Circulation).

The print version of IPC’s Uncut meanwhile, felt a loss of almost 2,900 issues year on year at the last ABCs, with its total now resting at almost 85,900 copies.
