Xfm Launches ‘Residency’ Podcasts

Xfm Logo Xfm is to make its ‘Xfm Residency’ shows available as a series of free podcasts, giving listeners the chance to hear their favourite music idols again and again.

The podcasts feature the artists in residence and excerpts from their musical choices. To download the podcasts listeners will need to go to a link on the Xfm website that takes them to an Xfm residency page on iTunes.

The Xfm Residency was launched by Damon Albarn in April (see Xfm Adds Big Names For New Residency Slot). Albarn of Blur, Gorillaz and more recently The Good, The Bad and The Queen fame, took the Xfm helm for four consecutive weekends and was followed on Sunday by The Manic Street Preachers.

Every guest or band is completely in control of what goes on air during their show and the records they play are from their personal collections providing a rare insight into what inspires them.

The Xfm Residency podcasts follow on from the Xfm Adam & Joe Podcasts, which Xfm says clocked up more than a million downloads, and The Xfm Sessions.

With its continuing expansion to regions such as Machester and Glasgow (see Xfm Rejigs Schedule Ahead Of Manchester Launch), the Total Xfm network has carried on boosting its weekly reach, which was up by more than 80% year on year at the last RAJARs (see BBC Stations Continue To Perform Well).

Next quarter’s figures are due to be released this week, with NewsLine providing full coverage of the main focus points on Thursday.
