News Magazines Shelves Project Danni

News International Logo News Magazines is believed to have shelved plans to publish a new women’s weekly, which was being developed under the name Project Dannii.

News magazines, the magazine publishing division of News International, had suffered a series of delays in launching the title, which was first meant to hit the market last September.

Karl Marsden, News Magazine’s commercial director, had previously been quoted in the trade press as saying that the magazine was ready to be launched but that the project had been suspended.

Had the magazine been launched it would have entered a crowded marketplace, with IPC Media last week announcing its biggest magazine launch ever, Look, in a joint venture with Groupe Marie Claire (see IPC Media Looks To New Women’s Weekly).

News Magazines already has one women’s weekly on the market, Love it!, which at the last ABCs had a circulation of 405,441 (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Mixed Results Revealed For Women’s Weekly Market).
