Bellamy Returns To Channel 4

Channel 4 Logo Julian Bellamy, controller of BBC3, has returned to Channel 4 as head of programmes, whilst Kevin Lygo has been promoted to the new role of director of television and content at the channel.

Bellamy, who joined BBC3 in 2005 following two years with Channel 4, will report directly to Lygo and have commissioning responsibility for programming and line-management responsibility for genre commissioning teams.

Lygo will have line-management responsibility for the group’s portfolio of channels and will be responsible for cross-platform commissioning in areas including acquisitions, education and film.

He will also have an active role in developing Channel 4 across its digital channels, online and on mobile.

Speaking about Bellamy’s return to the fold, Duncan said: “Julian is in the vanguard of the next generation of channel controllers coming through in television and Kevin and I are convinced he’s the right person to lead the next stage of Channel 4’s development.”
