Newspaper Seminar To Focus On Future Of Industry

MediaTel Group Logo At MediaTel Group’s ‘Future of National Newspapers’ seminar held in London a year ago, a surprisingly positive assessment of the industry emerged despite declining circulation figures throughout 2006.

Digital was not seen as the mammoth threat to the print format that it had been reported to be; strong brands were lauded and a general feeling of optimism was palpable.

Next Wednesday, 4 July, the UK’s leading online media intelligence company will focus on the issues surrounding the newspaper industry a year on, with the latest in the Group’s forward facing seminar series.

This seminar, once again chaired by the BBC’s Torin Douglas, will examine what is really working for newspapers beyond the traditional print model, whether the selling of online and print together is really happening and if agencies are ready for this.

Panellists will also discuss the growth of the free newspapers and the likelihood of a major daily title heading in the same direction. The session will also scrutinise the NRS’ plans to measure web plus print.

Jo Blake, head of press at BLM; Ian Clark, general manager of thelondonpaper; Stuart Taylor, commercial director Guardian News & Media, and Ray Snoddy, media journalist, are all confirmed to sit on the panel at this event, with one final panellist to be confirmed shortly.

The seminar will take place between 9.30am and 11.30am next Wednesday, at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, with tea and coffee to be served from 8.45am.

Space is limited, and tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. For more information and to book, click here.
