ITV Could Be Considering Future Of Jobs Reunited Site

Jobs Reunited ITV is said to be considering the future of the newly launched Friends Reunited spin-off site Jobs Reunited, after the project has reportedly failed to take off.

Friends Reunited Jobs was launched in December last year and the company is said to now be in discussions with staff about their future.

Ideas for the site being proposed include its continuation as a “white label” service. Speculation in the trade press hashas suggested that Monster.com may be interested in undertaking such an initiative.

ITV bought Friends Reunited for £125 million in 2005 (see ITV Plans Online Expansion With Friends Reunited Purchase), and the site has gone from strength to strength ever since. Whilst remaining a strong brand, with more than 5.7 million unique users for January 2007 according to Nielsen//NetRatings, other social networking sites like MYSpace and Bebo have recently blossomed in their popularity.

ITV has created a game show based on the brand and sub-brands include genealogy and dating sectors. In April a travel community was added.
