T-Mobile Announces Partners For Mobile TV Service

T-Mobile Logo T-Mobile has announced that the first partners on its mobile TV service are Channel 4, ITN, MTV, Eurosport and Nickelodeon.

All users who buy a compatible handset before June 30 will get a free subscription to the mobile TV to that date whilst existing consumers can access it on a 24-hour basis for just £1 until July 1.

Following that, daily and monthly subscription packages will come into effect.

It is also believed that the BBC and Sky are in discussion over signing content deals with T-Mobile, whilst a Big Brother channel is being aired as part of the launch of the service.

A recent survey of 22,000 European mobile users, commissioned by Tellabs, found that many early adopters of mobile television and video services are not keen on revisiting the technology (see Early Adopters of Mobile TV Not Keen On Service).

The research showed that on average, former users of mobile TV and video outnumber current users by more than 19%.
