Bonkers And Benidorm Drop Viewers

Benidorm ITV1’s new shows, Bonkers and Benidorm both dropped viewers after their great starts last week, although they still saw very respectable audience figures last night.

Bonkers, the saucy comedy drama starring Liza Tarbuck, attracted a peak audience of 4.2 million adults to its 9pm timeslot, a 19.1% audience share. It averaged 3.9 million adult viewers across its hour-long running time.

Bonkers, however, was beaten by Crimewatch on BBC One, which drew an average audience of 4.6 million adults in its hour-long slot.

Benidorm, on at 10pm, had an average audience of 4.3 million adults, down slightly from the 4.6 average last week (see Viewers Go Bonkers For Benidorm).

At 8pm, The Bill‘s gritty mix of hard-nosed cops and scheming crooks had a peak audience of 5.6 million adults, easily beating the peak audience figure for BBC One’s Waterloo Road of 4.5 million adults.

The two big soaps on last night did as well as ever, with Eastenders beating the rural goings on of Emmerdale by a few hundred thousand viewers.

Eastenders attracted an average adult audience of 8.4 million, whilst Emmerdale was just below that figure with 8.1 million.
