Channel 4 has held talks with Emap about launching a joint venture to run the publishing company’s music TV channels.
According to a report in the Guardian, Channel 4 is not interested in buying Emap’s seven music channels, but has held talks over the possibility of a joint venture.
The report quotes an unnamed source as saying: “Channel 4 is currently the biggest terrestrial broadcaster of music in the UK and we are actively looking at developing a cross-platform music strategy.
“We are in talks with lots of potential partners about developing a digital music strategy.”
At the end of January it was reported that Emap was in serious discussions with Channel 4 about joining the 4Radio bid for the second national digital multiplex (see Emap Could Join 4Radio Second Multiplex Bid).
