The Palace No Match For Attenborough’s Snakes

Snake David Attenborough’s Life In Cold Blood was once again the big winner in the Monday night 9pm slot, grabbing a peak audience of 5.5 million adults (a 24.6% share).

Last night’s programme looked at snakes, with the courtship of king snakes and the water birth of 15 yellow anacondas just two of the highlights.

An average of 5.3 million adults stayed with the show for its hour duration, or a 24% share of the audience.

The snakes’ nearest challenger on the night was The Palace on ITV1, which had a peak of 3.5 million adult viewers.

The drama, following the lives of a fictional royal family, had an average of three million adults viewers, or a 13.5% share of the audience.

Over on BBC Two at 9pm was Transexual In Iran, a thought provoking documentary looking at a country where homosexuality is punishable by death but sex change operations are legal.

A peak of almost two million adults (an 8.8% share) watched the hour long programme, with an average of 1.6 million sticking with it.

Meanwhile, Channel 4 showed a Time Team Special, The Real Knights of The Round Table.

This looked at the mysterious round table building built by Edward III which lay hidden under Windsor Castle for centuries.

A peak of 2.6 million adults watched the programme, with an average of 2.5 million staying glued to their screens throughout its hour running time.
