IPC To Launch Television Website

IPC is to launch a television listings guide on the internet. The group’s new free website, unmissabletv.com, will feature TV Times, TV & Satellite Week and What’s On TV as well as cinema listings for the whole of the UK.

The news comes a week after the magazine group appointed Caroline Ward as managing director of its TV weeklies division, tx. At the time of her appointment the group’s chief executive, Sly Bailey spoke of intentions to develop its listings guides arena digitally.

Ward commented on the new site:”The launch of unmissabletv on the web is just the beginning. tx leads the TV information market in print and we have an aggressive development strategy for our new brand which will extend this market leadership onto the world of electronic media.”

On December 2 the new site, which claims to be the most comprehensive TV site on the web, will launch. With listings for over 200 channels, it will also provide an updated entertainment news service and a sports-finder facility. The group is hoping to combine it with e-commerce outlets early next year.

Ward said: “Television plays an extraordinary dual role in UK life, driving mass audiences, but at the same time reflecting almost every aspect of specialist interest, from gardening to travel, football to film. With the power of IPC Electric behind it, unmissable tv is poised to become a significant electronic brand and e-commerce player in the UK.”

IPC Electric launched in September but has yet to complete its first major project, the development of a dedicated women’s portal.
