New York Times Considers Electronic Sales Of Print Format

The New York Times is planning to launch an online copy of the print version of the paper, according to a report on ZDNet yesterday. The paper is hoping to sell electronic reproductions of the print version for people who prefer that format to the current online layout of the title.

The electronic paper will look identical to the newsprint edition, even carrying the same advertising, the ZDNet story reports. However, users will navigate around the paper using hyperlinks and text searches.

It is understood that the US Audit Bureau of Circulations will consider accounting for electronic sales in its audit of titles’ circulations.
