The worldwide creative chief of advertising and media services agency, Publicis, is reported to be leaving the agency to start a non-advertising business in a joint venture with his current employer.
Referring to the venture, Droga added: “I have a belief in this model. I’m having a great career, but I’ve spent it working under other people’s models. I think I’d really like to lay down a blueprint of my own. I’d like to have some ownership of it, so there’s more at stake for myself and live or die by my own vision.
Droga plans to leave Publicis within a few months, after finishing projects for clients including Heineken and Minute Maid.
Last month, Publicis, revealed optimistic results for the first half of 2005, showing revenues to have risen by 6.1% year on year, attributed to new account wins, with growth and profitability now “amply present” across the group’s finances (see Publicis Sees Revenues Rise After New Account Wins).
The new figures reveal that the company’s operating income has increased by 8% year on year, while group net income has risen by a massive 49% in the same period.
