Google Could Command 25% Market Share Of Online Adspend

By the end of the year, Google is expected to command a 25% market share of online adspend, according to eMarketer.

eMarketer says that Google will see its ad revenue soar to more than $4 billion by the end of the year, a number that matches the record ad spending of the entire industry during Q2 of this year and is roughly a quarter of the $16 billion predicted for internet advertising by eMarketer for 2006 as a whole.

Based on eMarketer estimates, Google’s revenue is expected to surge by nearly 65% v 17.5% growth predicted for Yahoo.

Last week Google acquired YouTube, the video sharing website, for $1.65 billion (£884 million) in a stock-for-stock transaction (see Google Acquires YouTube For $1.65 Billion).
