NTL:Telewest Announces Q3 Results

NTL:Telewest has announced that total revenue in the third quarter 2006 was £1,024.9 million, up £140.6 million compared with the second quarter of 2006, due to the acquisition of Virgin Mobile.

Total revenue was up £542.2 million compared to the third quarter of 2005, which NTL says was due to the merger with Telewest and the acquisition of Virgin.

However, net losses grew to £96.1 million from £52.1 million in the same period last year.

Cable ARPU was up £0.27 compared to the second quarter of 2006, to £42.48.

NTL:Telewest also announced that it will be rebranding its consumer division as Virgin Media in Q1 2007, following the acquisition of Virgin Mobile in April this year (see NTL Completes Acquisition Of Virgin Mobile).

Steve Burch, Chief Executive Officer of NTL, said: “On the day we are announcing that our new company name will become Virgin Media, I am pleased to announce continued improvement in our results with strong growth in OCF.

“Cable ARPU, RGU per customer and triple play penetration have all improved due to our strategy of focusing on quality customers.

“Gross additions also increased sharply, reflecting the success of our reinvigorated marketing and we have a firm plan in place to address our historical churn issues. We remain firmly on track to achieve an annual £250 million synergy run rate by the end of 2007 and we realized estimated savings of £28 million during the quarter.”
