Endemol Acquires French Endemol Division

Endemol has agreed a deal to buy Endemol France from owner Telefonica, saying that the acquisition would be worth £300 million.

Bids are now expected for Endemol, with some in the trade press saying that it could have a new owner by the end of April.

In a statement, Endemol said that its French division is expected to realize net turnover of around €175 million.

Endemol France’s business mix is 10% Digital Media and 90% Non-scripted, led by formats such as Star Academy, Deal or No Deal and Watch Your Step.

Yesterday, John de Mol, co-founder of Endemol, took a 5.15% stake in the company through his investment vehicle, Cyrte (see Co-Founder Buys 5.15% Stake In Endemol).
