De Agostini, the Italian publisher, is understood to be preparing a bid for Endemol, the producer of Big Brother.
It is believed that De Agostini has hired US bank Citigroup to examine the possibility of making a bid for the 75% stake which Telefonica could be putting up for sale (see

Reports in the Italian press said that they had learnt of a potential bid from unnamed sources. However, De Agostini has denied the claim.
Several parties have been linked with making a bid for Endemol, including Rupert Murdoch (see Rupert Murdoch Could Bid For Endemol) and Endemol founder John de mol, in a joint bid with Disney (see Disney Could Join De Mol In Endemol Bid).
